CAREER DEVELOPMENT - Employment, Education and Job Training


The goal of the Career Development program is to provide on-going guidance and support to members in exploring and pursuing education, training and employment based on their preferences, interests, and strengths.


Educational opportunities include learning assessment and counseling, on-site New Haven Adult Education Classes (GED prep), tutoring, and assistance and support in accessing post secondary Educational opportunities.


Training Opportunities Include paid On-site internships with evaluations, and certificates of completion in food service, Maintenance and clerical.  The emphasis is on preparing individuals for competitive employment in the community and utilizing career development activities to promote recovery.   If you are interested in gaining the skills necessary or gaining meaningful employment, please click on this link to read our Career Development Brochure

Every 6 months, Fellowship Place celebrates and honors its members at a Career Development Awards Ceremony for achievements in education, training and employment.   In the fiscal year ’06-’07 Fellowship honored individuals for the following achievements:

  • 12 individuals graduated from computer classes
  •  5 individuals graduated from Food Service Training
  •  3 individuals graduated from Clerical Training
  • 6 individuals for Educational Achievement
  • 1 individual for completing a Literacy Volunteer Training

In addition, 21 members were assisted with getting a permanent job in the community and 241 members utilized one or more career development activities. Click the link to see pictures of our most recent Career Development Celebration
