How one homeless man perseveres on the streets of New Haven By Randall Beach, Register Columnist

fellowship inn and the homeless engagement program

Fellowship Inn is a non-residential morning social, wellness and recovery program, offering psychosocial engagement services to adults who are homeless, have a mental health disability and/or co-occurring substance abuse disorder.

The Homeless Engagement Program serves as a hub to access other services and resources and to promote stability, opportunities for recovery, and community integration. It is a center where individuals come to gain access to services including independent and supportive housing, vocational training, and social, medical, educational, and case management services. We meet people where they are, and we help provide for basic service needs. Fellowship Inn is a collaborative program and is part of the Supportive Housing Program of the Greater New Haven community. Most importantly, the Fellowship Inn rekindles a desire to recover from mental illness and to achieve personal goals, which for most include obtaining housing and employment.

Fellowship Commons provides a permanent home to persons in recovery from mental illness, many of whom were homeless. The program is comprised of:

Housing Management Services

  • 23 units supported by Section 8 project based funding

Housing Development

Residential Support Services
